"Ever thine, ever mine, ever ours..."
Such beauty is encompassed in these three little phrases...I was reminded of the words tonight as I watched "Sex and the City" the movie. Despite its fictional characteristics and perhaps insignificant musings on love and inaccuracies about the lives of young women, the choice to use this phrase rings so very moving, and--one would hope--true.
As I witnessed the wedding of dear friends this past weekend, I found myself surprised at the depth of love that brought the two together. Perhaps because I've never experienced such profound love, I can't quite understand it, but ultimately I just found myself in awe of the reality that they will, truly, live happily forever and love each other...in an everlasting, "ever thine, ever mine, ever ours" type of love. One can only hope that if we do not all encounter such love in our lives, we can at least witness its beauty in the lives of those around us; the lives of our family and friends.
And to that end, I must say I feel an equally profound love toward those in my life, even if not romantic. In the friendships and relationships I have with family. That, truly, must be as deep a love, and as important as finding the true love of one's life.
"Ever thine, ever mine, ever ours..." resounds beautifully; it is so gently put, and serves as such a peaceful reminder that love, the very essence of what we all live for, is everlasting in its most honest form.
